    Apple and Camembert Sandwiches

    Adapted from "The Great Book of French Cuisine"


    List of Ingredients


    • 2 Tbsp butter, softened
    • 16 thin slices French bread (baguette)
    • 4 to 6 ounces Camembert cheese, at room temperature
    • 1 apple, cored and thinly sliced
    • Watercress, for garnish


    Instructions


    1. Butter one side of each slice of bread; spread Camembert over the butter. Place sliced apples on top of the cheese on 8 slices of bread, then close the sandwiches with the remaining 8 slices, making a total of 8 small sandwiches. Garnish the top of each sandwich with a few leaves of watercress, and serve.

      Yield: 8 sandwiches
