    Spicy Nut & Raisin Mix

    Source of Recipe

    Cooking with Too Hot Tamales

    List of Ingredients

    • 2 Tbsp peanut or canola oil
    • 2 medium cloves garlic, peeled and minced or mashed to a paste
    • 1 cup golden raisins
    • 1 cup unblanched almonds
    • 1 cup whole pecans
    • 2 tsp chili powder
    • 1/2 to 1 tsp cayenne
    • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
    • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    • 1-1/2 cups thin pretzel sticks, broken into 1-inch pieces
    • Pinch salt
    • 1 tsp sugar

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Heat the oil in a large heavy skillet over medium heat. Saute the garlic 1 to 2 minutes.

    2. Add the raisins, almonds, pecans, chili powder, cayenne and black pepper, stirring well. Then add the Worcestershire sauce, mixing well. Stir in the pretzels and cook, stirring frequently, 3 to 4 minutes.

    3. Transfer to a baking sheet. Sprinkle with the salt and sugar and bake, shaking the pan and stirring occasionally, 10 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and cool.

Store in an airtight container until ready to serve.

      Makes about 4 cups.
