Old-Fashioned Buttermilk Pie

- Vegetable oil, for greasing
- 3 eggs
- 1¼ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- â…› tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 (9-inch) refrigerated store-bought pie crust
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325° F. Lightly grease a 9-inch pie pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs. Add in the sugar, butter, and flour. Mix until everything is well incorporated. Pour in the buttermilk and stir. Add the lemon juice, vanilla, and nutmeg. Mix until everything is nice and creamy.
- Pour the mixture into the pie shell, place it in the pie pan, and bake in the oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until the filling is set. Let cool completely, for about 45 minutes, before cutting and serving.
Makes 10 to 12 servings
