    Slow Cooker Red Beans and Rice

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 pound dried red beans
    • 1 pound Cajun smoked sausage, cut into 1-inch pieces
    • 1 smoked ham hock
    • 3 ribs celery, chopped
    • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
    • 1 large onion, chopped
    • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
    • 8 cups water
    • 2 tsp salt
    • .
    • Cooked hot white rice


    Instructions


    1. Sort and rinse the beans as directed on the package.

    2. In the bowl of a 4-quart slow cooker, combine the beans, sausage, ham hock, celery, bell pepper, onion, garlic, water, and salt, and stir well. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours or until the beans are done to your liking.

    3. Serve over hot white rice.

      Serves 6 to 8
