Super Bowl: Sauerkraut Brats

List of Ingredients
- 1 (12-ounce) can beer of choice
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 medium onion, chopped roughly, divided
- 8 bratwurst sausages
- 1 (14.4-ounce) can sauerkraut, undrained
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar (or more to taste)
- 8 strips bacon
Instructions
- Combine beer and water in medium pot and bring to boil. Add half of onion and the brats, and boil for 5 minutes.
- Meanwhile, combine sauerkraut, remaining onion and brown sugar in another pan. If kraut is dry, add a little water. Bring to boil and cook until liquid is reduced almost completely and sugar has caramelized.
- Remove brats from pot, slice them down the middle, and stuff them with some sauerkraut. Wrap one piece of bacon around each brat and secure with toothpick. Place brats on grill and cook until browned and crispy on outside, turning occasionally. Remove toothpick. Serve on Kaiser bun with condiments of choice.
Makes 8 servings.
