Fancy Sunday Squash Dish

List of Ingredients
- 2 pounds yellow squash, chopped
- ½ cup chopped onion
- ½ cup water
- One 8-ounce container sour cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ tsp dried basil
- 1 cup soft bread crumbs
- ½ cup butter, melted
- ½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- ½ tsp paprika
- 6 slices bacon, crisply cooked and crumbled
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, cook squash and onion in water until tender; drain and mash. Combine squash mixture, sour cream, and seasonings. Pour into a greased 13- x 9-inch baking pan.
- Toss together bread crumbs, butter, cheese, and paprika; sprinkle over squash mixture. Top with bacon.
- Bake, uncovered, at 300° for 20 minutes, or until hot and golden.
