    My Cavatini Recipe

    The original recipe came from a cookbook and I have adapted it to fit my family's tastes. Hope that you like it.


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 lb of Italian Sausage
    • 1/2 lb of Ground Beef
    • 1 quart size Jar of Home Canned Tomatoes or
    • 1 lg Can of Whole Tomatoes
    • 1 sm pkg of Pepperoni
    • 1 med Onion Sliced
    • 1 whole Green Pepper diced
    • 6 cups of Pasta shapes ( rotelle, bow ties, shells etc. )
    • 2 Cups of Shredded Mozzarella Cheese ( divided )
    • 1 Jar of your Favorite Spaghetti Sauce. I use 4 Cheese.


    Instructions


    1. Cook pasta according to directions on the package. Drain thoroughly.
    2. Brown the Sausage and Ground Beef until no longer pink. Add the onion and green pepper the last 5 minutes of cooking.
    3. Drain grease from meat and vegetables. Add the spaghetti sauce and the pepperoni. Heat through.
    4. Mix the drained pasta with the above mixture and combine well.
    5. Spread 1/2 of the mixture in a large greased baking dish. Spread 1 cup of the cheese over the top.
    6. Add the remaining mixture. Pour tomatoes over the top.
    7. Place in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until bubbly. Spread remaining 1 cup of cheese over the top and put back into the oven until the cheese is melted.


    Final Comments


    I serve this with crusty garlic bread and the family finishes it off. If there are leftovers, they are good heated the next day.
