    1 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 t. vanilla
    1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
    2 1/2 c. flour
    2 t. soda
    1/2 t. salt
    1/2 c. cocoa
    1 c. water, boiling

    Recipe



    Sift together 3 times, cocoa, flour, soda and salt. Mix shortening, sugar and eggs together until fluffy. Add vanilla and milk, beat hard. Add to this the dry mixture and mix well. Then add water last and mix. Bake in 350 degree oven. Makes 20 servings
