    1 c. flour, sifted
    1/2 t. soda
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 c. shortening
    3/4 t. salt
    1/4 c. sour milk or buttermilk
    1 egg, unbeaten
    1/2 c. water boiling
    2 oz. chocolate

    Recipe



    Pour water over chocolate in mixing bowl and stir until melted. Measure and sift dry ingredients while chocolate cools. Put dry ingredients into chocolate. Add unbeaten egg and shortening and beat until smooth. Add milk and stir well. Pour in cups and bake 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees.
