    Crisco's Chocolate Fluff Cake

    2 1/2 c. cake flour, sifted
    1 2/3 c. sugar
    2/3 c. crisco
    1 t. salt
    1 1/4 c. milk, divided
    4 1/2 t. double-acting baking powder
    5 egg whites
    1 t. vanilla

    Recipe



    Mix flour, sugar, crisco, salt and 3/4 c. milk thoroughly by had or with mixer for 2 minutes. Stir in baking powder. Add remaining milk, egg whites and vanilla. Mix thoroughly by had or mixer for 2 minutes. Pour into 2- 9" layer pans which have been rubbed with crisco or lined with heavy waxed paper (for smaller pans, fill half full; bake cup cakes with remaining batter). Bake at 360 for 40 minutes. Cool cake in pan on rack for 15 minutes. Before removing, loosen edges with spatula. Place rack over cake in pan; invert together.
