Chocolate Squares Oatmeal Cookies

List of Ingredients

3/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. shortening, soft
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. oatmeal quick uncooked
1/4 c. nuts
chocolate squares (from candy bars)


Recipe

Sift flour, soda and salt.
Add sugars, shortening, egg and vanilla.
Beat until smooth.
Stir in oats and nuts.
Shape dough into 12" roll.
Wrap and chill.
Slice, place on ungreased sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
Remove from oven immediately, place small square of milk chocolate on each.
Remove from pan, press nut in chocolate.
