    List of Ingredients

    pickles
    1 qt salt
    3 gal water (separated)
    1 T alum
    1 T ginger
    1 pt vinegar
    1 pt water
    3 T sugar
    1 t cinnamon
    1 t cloves
    1 t celery seed
    1 t allspice
    1 t casa buds

    Recipe

    Slice pickles thin, let lay in brine 8 days. Brine: 1 qt salt to 1 gal. water. After 8 days, drain, add fresh water and alum heaping tablespoon alum. simmer 1/2 hour. Drain. simmer 1/2 hour in 1 T ginger and fresh water. Drain.
    1 pt vinegar, 1 pt water. cook 5 minutes. 3 Tbs sugar 1 tsp each cinnamon, cloves, celery seed, allspice, casa buds. Add pickles and cook 1/2 hour.
