Recipe Introduction
Having a good Chili recipe is a must! You can eat this as is, or add a little rice or macaroni to it if desired. This is also a good way to stretch the Chili if there isn't quite enough.
List of Ingredients
1 lb. lean Ground Beef
1 lb. Ground Sausage
1 Onion
1 Green Pepper
2 Celery Stalks (chop all vegetables)
8 Plum Tomatoes (seeded & diced)
1 can (46 ounces) V8 Juice
1 can (30 ounces) Chili Beans
1 can (15 ounces) Pinto Beans (rinse & drain)
1 can (15 ounces) Black Beans (rinse & drain)
1-2 T. Chili Powder (give or take some according to your taste)
1 t. Cumin
1/4 t. Black Pepper
Jalepeno (chopped) to taste
2 cloves Garlic (minced)Recipe
Brown hamburger & sausage in skillet, drain away fat. To large soup pot add hamburger, sausage, chopped vegetables, V8, beans, chili powder, cumin, pepper & jalepeno; bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 4 hours; stirring occasionally. During last 1/2 hour of cooking time, add garlic to Chili....
I recently started cooking this in my crock pot on low all day. Works great! Just brown hamburger & sausage in a skillet first, then add all ingrediants to crockpot (except garlic) and let simmer on low all day. Add garlic the last hour of cooking time.
Number Of Servings: This makes a large pot of chili. Enough for at least 3 meals. Leftovers freeze well for a latter meal.
