PARENT PREP
For toddlers, parents will need to construct the house and frost the walls, roof, and lawn first. We constructed our house with the regular graham crackers lengthwise, but if you would like a larger house, place two graham crackers vertically side by side and support them with a cracker horizontally across the back. We used both the frosting and the marshmallow creme to stick everything together. You can use the chocolate grahams for the roof and windows. You can also construct a door from the chocolate grahams or create the outline with pretzel sticks and frost a decorative wreath in the middle.
CALL THE KIDS
Now it's time to let the children decorate the house. Often, it is easier to add the frosting or marshmallow creme with a spoon rather than a knife. Then place the assortment of edible decorations in small custard or coffee cups for each child to pick from. We used green frosting for trees and spearmint leaves as bushes. The M&M's were placed around the edge of the roof to duplicate twinkling lights, red licorice covered the corners, cinnamon drops decorated the top pitch of the roof, peppermint drops acted as stepping-stones, and coconut was sprinkled over the roof to simulate snow.
