1 box yellow cake mix (you will only use one layer)
1/2 cup red raspberry jam ( use more if needed)
1/2 cup sherry or 1/2 cup orange juice mixed with 2 tablespoons sherry flavoring
18 ounces previously prepared vanilla pudding
1 cup chilled whipping cream
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup toasted, slivered almonds
maraschino cherries to decorateRecipe
Prepare the cake according to package directions. Break one layer of the cake into pieces and arrange on the bottom of a 2 quart glass serving dish. Spread the jam over the cake, then add sherry. Let the cake stand several minutes for the sherry to soak through, then spread the pudding over the cake. Cover and chill for 8 hours.
In a chilled bowl, beat together the whipping cream and sugar until stiff. Add whipped cream to top of trifle. Sprinkle with almonds and garnish with cherries.
