This velvety soft chocolate frosting is finger-licking good, make sure you have enough left for your cakes or cupcakes.
List of Ingredients
2 bars (4 oz. total) NESTLÉ TOLL HOUSE Unsweetened Chocolate Baking Bars, broken into pieces
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
3 1/2 cups (1-lb.) powdered sugar
1/2 cup milk, (use up to 2/3 cup)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon saltRecipe
MICROWAVE Melt broken-up bars and butter in uncovered, microwave-safe bowl on HIGH (100%) power for 1 minute; STIR. The bars may retain some of their shape. If necessary, microwave at additional 10- to 15-second intervals, stirring just until melted; cool to room temperature.
BEAT sugar, milk, vanilla extract and salt into chocolate mixture just until of spreading consistency.
FOR THE SAUCEPAN METHOD:
MELT baking bars and butter in small, heavy saucepan over lowest possible heat. When baking bars begin to melt, remove from heat; stir. Return to heat for a few seconds at a time, stirring until smooth. Transfer to small mixer bowl; cool to room temperature. Proceed as above.
Yields 2 cups approximately
