Toe Nail Pie

List of Ingredients
For five or six helpings:
Pound and a half of Bramley apples, or other cookers
6 tablespoons of water
Topping
5 oz wholewheat flour
3 oz sugar
5 oz rolled porridge oats
4 oz margarine or butter
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
4 tablespoons of golden syrupRecipe
Preheat the oven to gas mark four, 180 degrees
Peel, core and Eighth the apples, and place in the bottom of the casserole dish. Sprinkle the water over them
Melt the margarine and sugar and syrup in a pan. As soon as the mixture is liquid, stir in the oats, cinnamon and flour. The mixture should now be a solid dough. Spread this dough over the Apples, and make a large hole in the centre for the steam to escape
Bake for forty minutes in the oven, until the topping is browned slightly
