    You will need a heart shaped cookie cutter for this recipe.

    List of Ingredients




    Cake ingredients:

    4 eggs
    3/4 cups sugar
    1/2 cup flour & 1 tbsp for pan
    1/4 cup cocoa
    1/2 tsp. Salt
    1 tsp vanilla extract

    Butter Cream Frosting Ingredients:

    1/2 cup butter
    3-4 tbsp whipping cream
    2 cups icing sugar (confectioner's sugar)
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    Food colouring (red) optional

    Directions: Cake

    1. Grease a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 jelly-roll pan; line with waxed paper, grese paper & flour pan. Preheat oven to 350 F.
    2. Break eggs into medium size bowl, let stand.
    3. Measure and sieve together dry ingredients, except sugar.
    4. Measure sugar into oven proof dish and place in oven.
    5. Beat eggs until foamy; remove sugar from oven and gradually sprinkle over eggs, beating until mixture is fluffy and pale yellow.
    6. At low speed, beat in dry ingredients, one spoonful at a time until smooth. Spread evenly in pan.
    7. Bake 20 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched. Cool on rack 10 minutes. Invert from pan onto rack and gently peel off paper. Cool completely.
    8. Cut cake with heart-shaped cookie cutters.
    9. Layer two hearts and fill with butter cream frosting.
    10. Decorate as desired.


    Directions: Butter Cream Frosting

    In a large bowl with mixer at medium speed whip butter until fluffy.
    Alternately add sugar and cream and beat until smooth, adding cream and 1 tsp vanilla to make icing of good spreading consistency.
