Patti LaBelle's Chocolate Pecan Pie

Ingredients
1/4 cup margarine
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 pint (2 cups) fat-free half-and-half
1 tbsp. brown sugar substitute, such as Brown Sugar Twin
1 tbsp. packed light brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
3 eggs whites
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. chocolate-flavor extract
1/3 cup chopped toasted pecans
1 9-inch frozen pie shell or Perfect Pie-crust (page 192) Recipe
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Melt the margarine in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth. Gradually whisk in the half-and-half, brown sugar substitute, brown sugar, eggs, and egg whites. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract, chocolate-flavor extract, and pecans.
Place the pie crust on a baking sheet. Pour in the chocolate filling and bake until set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 40 to 45 minutes.
Patti's pointers
To toast the pecans, spread them on a baking sheet and bake while the oven is preheating until fragrant and toasty, about 5 minutes.
