Recipe Introduction
Please note: My first preference is Dr. Pepper as I am not sure if Dr. Pepper is available everywhere, but if it is not, I suggest substituting either Mr. Pibb (Coca Cola product) or Dr. Thunder (Wal-Mart) .
This is a simple sauce recipe that is used to spice up different types of meat. You can use it for beef, pork chops, ribs and chicken. Each sauce is per one pound of meat.
List of Ingredients
2/3 c of Dr. Pepper brand soda
2/3 c ketchup
1 T Worcestershire sauce
1 T dried oregano
1 garlic clov, minced (optional) Recipe
Beef Roast: Place a 2-3 lb roast in a crock pot and bake on low for 4-6 hrs. Add your vegetables in the last 2 hours or you can break up the roast and serve on sandwiches. Also you can bake the roast at 350 degree F oven for 1 hour.
Pork Chops or Chicken: Place 4 pork chops in a 9 X 13 dish and bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.
Ribs: (Prefer country style - AKA w/o bone.) Place 2-3 lb of ribs in crock pot and bake for 4-6 hrs on low. Basting ribs withthe sauce every 30 minutes. Or you can bake the ribs in a 325 degree F oven for and hour, then bake another 45 minutes, basting the ribs every 15 minutes.
DO NOT use diet Dr Pepper even if it does taste the same. The sugar helps to tenderize the meat! (NOTE: Dr Pepper is a trademark of Dr Pepper/Seven Up Inc.)
