Cherry-Berry Jam
2-1/2 cups pitted dark sweet cherries or frozen loose-pack, pitted dark sweet cherries, thawed
2 cups fresh strawberries
4-1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup water
1 to 1-3/4 ounce package powdered fruit pectin
Grind or finely chop cherries to make 1-1/2 cups; remove stems and mash strawberries to make 1 cup.
In a large bowl, combine cherries and strawberries and the sugar. Let stand for 10 minutes.
In small saucepan, combine water and powdered fruit pectin; bring to a boil (full rolling boil). Boil hard, uncovered 1 minute, stirring constantly. Stir hot pectin mixture into fruit mixture; stir for 3 minutes.
Ladle at once into pint jars or moisture-proof freezer containers. Seal and label. Let stand at room temperature or until jam is set.
Keeps 3 weeks storing in refrigerature and 3 months in freezer.
