Oven Apple Butter
Peel, core and cook apples, don't use alot of water. Cook down to applesauce, in an enamel pan. For every 3 cups applesauce, use 1 cup sugar.
Combine applesauce and sugar; place in an ovenproof pan such as a roaster. Bake at 350° until it bubbles; lower heat to 325° - 300°. Stir every 20 minutes until of a buttery texture, 2-3 hours.
In last half hour of baking, add 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1 teaspoon ground allspice and red cinnamon candies (opt.), stir well. Pour into hot sterilized jars and seal.
To freeze, cool completely.
