Slaw That Keeps
1 large head cabbage
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups sugar
1 cup vinegar
1/2 cup water
1/2 bunch celery, chopped
1 red pepper, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon mustard seed
Shred cabbage, sprinkle with salt. Let stand 2 hours. Squeeze out cabbage and discard liquid. Boil sugar, vinegar, and water; let cool. Combine cabbage, celery, and peppers. Add celery and mustard seed, dressing and place in containers. This will keep 1 month in refrigerator.
Good on hot dogs!
