List of Ingredients
1 cup warm water + 2 tbl. yeast
1 cup boiling water
1 stick butter (1/2 cup)
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons salt
6 cups flourRecipe
Combine warm water and yeast; I add a pinch of sugar here. Let sit until yeast begins to react. Combine 1 cup water, 1 stick butter, and sugar in small saucepan, heat until butter is melted. Set aside until warm.
Beat eggs in a large bowl, add yeast mixture, then cooled butter mixture. Mix the salt into the flour. Stir flour into liquid. Mix well. Knead for approximately 15 minutes.
Put in lightly oiled bowl, and set in a warm place to rise until doubled in size. Punch down, and form into dinner rolls. I always tie in small knots. Rise once more for about 35 minutes, bake in a 350ºF oven for about 10-15 minutes.
Makes 3 dozen. These freeze very well.
