CHEWY BROWNIE COOKIES

2/3 cup shortening
1/3 cup baking cocoa
1 12 cups brown sugar
½ tsp. salt
1 tbsp. water
¼ tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups (12 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips
2 eggs
1 ½ cups flour
½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
Recipe
In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening, sugar, water and vanilla. Beat in the eggs. Combine flour, cocoa, salt and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture and beat just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts, if desired. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.
Bake in a 375 degree oven for 7 to 9 minutes, do no over bake. Cool 2 minutes before removing to wire racks. Yield 3 dozen.
