Strawberry Applesauce

Recipe Introduction
I was in the Doctor's office one day and was looking for some new receipes. I ran across this one and it looked so good I had to try it. You will love it.
List of Ingredients
- 4 McIntosh apples (2lb)
- 4 Empire apples (2lb) or Granny Smith
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 2 Tablespoon butter
- 1/2 Cup cup seedless reduced-sugar
- strawberry preserves
- Liquid red food color (Optional)
Instructions
- Peel, halve and core apples. Cut into 2-in chunks. Place in 5-qt sauce pan with apple juica and butter. Bring to boi. reduce heat to medium, simmer, covered 15 minutes or until apples are very tender.
- Crush apples with a potato masher until chunky. Stir in strawberry preserves and food coloring if using until blended. Serve warm or chillded.
Final Comments
This is a healthy desert as well as good to eat.
