    Eggless Applesauce Fruit Cake

    List of Ingredients


    • 3 cups strained Applesauce
    • 1 cup Shortening
    • 2 cup Sugar
    • 4 1/2 cups Flour
    • 4 tsp Baking Soda
    • 1 tsp Nutmeg
    • 2 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
    • 1 tsp Salt
    • 1/2 tsp Cloves
    • 1 pound Dates
    • 1 pound Raisins
    • 1/2 pound Nuts
    • 1 - 1 1/2 pounds Mixed Fruit


    Instructions


    1. Boil together for 5 minutes the Applesauce, Sugar & Shortening

    2. Let stand overnight or about 8 hours

    3. Dredge the chopped Fruit & Nuts with the Flour, Soda & Spices sifted
      together first

    4. Mix all together

    5. Bake in Glass Bread Pans lined with wax paper

    6. Makes 2 Long and 2 Short pans or 7 - 3/4" Loaves & 1 - 1 pound Loaf

    7. Bake in a slow oven - 200 degrees until toothpick comes out clean

    8. Bake for 1 hour & 55 minutes
