Recipe Introduction
We had moved into the trailer in Spring Lake Park and Dad was working at Paul's Place in St. Paul, and I was working at the Country Kitchen next door to Paul's Place. (it was a large motel system, and dad was it's carpenter/handyman) I had slipped on some water on the floor at Country Kitchen, and Dad decided he was going to make dinner. He did quite well with frying some chicken and had boiled some mashed potatoes, then he decided he wanted to make some gravy to go over the mashed potatoes, but didn't know how to make gravy. So he came into the bedroom where I was laying down, as I was not to get out of bed for three days, and asked me how I made gravy. Apparently Dad thought he needed to add more cornstarch, because he came into the bedroom with his hand around the handle of the spoon sticking into the gravy in the pan, and he looked at me very innocently, and said: " Is this the way it's supposed to be?" Needless to say, we had gravy for weeks, from that stock. Peggy
