    Whacky Cake

    Recipe Introduction


    This is a cake that all ingredients can be mixed right in the cake pan, but I don't do that. I put them all in the mixer and mix them up. If you don't like moist, heavy cakes, this one's not for you.


    List of Ingredients


    • 3 cups sifted flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking soda
    • 6 tablespoon cocoa
    • 2 cups sugar
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 10 tablespoons cooled melted shortening
    • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
    • 2 cups cold water
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla


    Instructions


    1. Combine first five ingredients and then add the rest of the ingredients. Mix until smooth.

    2. Pour batter into a 9" x 13" cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.

    3. Frost with One Minute Chocolate Icing. Recipe follows:

    4. Melt 1 stick of butter or margarine in saucepan. Add 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup milk and 3 tablespoons cocoa to butter. Bring to a rolling boil and boil for 1 minute. Add vanilla and stir until frosting thickens and can be spread on cake.



    Final Comments


    Vegetable oil can be used instead of shortening, but the cake isn't as moist.
