Best Apple Pie - Sugar Free

Recipe Introduction
This is the best apple pie we have ever eaten. If you don't want to make it sugar-free, use 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar and 1/3 cup granulated sugar instead of Splenda.
List of Ingredients
- 8 cups pared, cored, sliced apples *See note below
- 2/3 cup Splenda
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 pkg. refrigerated pie crusts
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Place apples in a large bowl. Add Splenda, flour and spices. Mix up a little and let stand while you get your crust ready.
- Put your bottom pie crust into a 10" pie plate (you can use 9" and apples will be heaped higher). Put apple mixture into dish and dot with butter. Put top crust on and crimp edges and make a few vents in top of crust for steam to come out.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 40 minutes. Cover edges of crust so they don't brown too much. If you see that it is getting too brown all over, put a piece of foil loosely over pie.
Final Comments
I like to use a mixture of apples. Preferred is Rome Beauty, McIntosh, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious. Probably will need a couple large apples of each to get your 8 cups.
