4 cups basic batter
1 egg
4 tablespoons oil or shortening
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ cup milk
Recipe
Add egg, oil and milk to basic batter, stirring in well. Blend dry ingredients in small bowl; sprinkle over wet mixture and stir in gently. Let rest 5 minutes, then drop or pour onto a hotter than normal griddle. If mixture appears too thick, add more milk.
