Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

- PUDDING:
- 1/4 cup Butter
- 5 cups Cinnamon Swirl Bread Cubes(stale)
- 7 Eggs
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
- 1/8 teaspoon Salt
- 6 cups Milk
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
- VANILLA SAUCE:
- 2 cups Granulated Sugar
- 2 cups & 1/4 cup Water(divided)
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 3 teaspoons Cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
Instructions
- Making the pudding, spread butter in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking pan. Spread the bread cubes along the bottom of the pan. Using a electric mixer beat eggs and add sugar, cornstarch & salt. Add in milk and vanilla. Pour milk and egg mixture on bread layer. Bake at 350 degree for 25 minutes. Pudding is done when a butter knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool.
- While pudding is baking make up the sauce. making the sauce by combining sugar, 2 cups water & butter in saucepan and cook until boiling. In a small bowl combine 1/4 cup water with cornstarch, mixing until clear and smooth, then add to boiling mixture. Mix well and serve 1-2 tablespoons of sauce over each square of bread pudding served. Makes 16 servings.
