Recipe Introduction
This is the BEST carrot recipe I've ever found! Even people who say they don't like carrots like this one! I suppose you could use a bag of frozen carrots, if you don't have time to slice up your own, but not sure of the amounts you'd need.
List of Ingredients
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons margarine
- ¼ teaspoon dry mustard
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- ½ teaspoon celery salt
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 12 carrots, peeled, sliced and cooked
- 8 oz. pkg. shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup dry bread crumbs
Instructions
- Saúte onions in margarine; stir in mustard, pepper and celery salt.
- Add flour and milk, stirring until combined.
- Cook over medium heat until thickened; set aside.
- Layer half the carrots in a greased 1½ qt. baking dish; top with half the cheese then half the white sauce; repeat layers.
- Top with bread crumbs and bake at 350° for 20 minutes or until golden and bubbly on top.
- Serves 6
