    Baked Pasta

    Recipe Introduction

Hearty enough for a main course, I like this because it is different from the heavier baked zitis or lasagnes that are traditionally served with holiday meals.

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 lb. 80% lean ground beef
    • 3 cloves garlic
    • 12 oz. can brown gravy
    • 32 oz. tomato sauce
    • 1 tsp. dried oregano
    • 1 tsp. dried basil
    • 1/2 cup half and half cream
    • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
    • 1 lb. ziti, cooked al dente & drained
    • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

    Instructions

    1. In heavy saucepan or dutch oven, cook ground beef until browned. Drain grease well. Add tomato sauce, half and half, garlic, oregano, basil and parmesan cheese. Simmer for 30 minutes.

    2. Combine sauce with cooked pasta. Place into greased 13 x 9 inch casserole. Cover with 1 cup shredded mozzarella.

    3. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 25 - 30 minutes or until sauce bubbles and cheese is lightly browned. Allow to sit for 10 minutes before serving.

    Final Comments

Great with some additional, home-made tomato sauce spooned over each seving, with meatballs and sausage on the side. If you try it, I hope you'll like it!
