    1 pie crust
    3/4~cu sugar
    1/4~cu cornstarch
    1/4~teas oon salt
    3~cu milk
    3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
    2~tables oon butter
    2~teas oon vanilla

    Bake pie crust. CooI.
    In med saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt; mix welI.
    Stir in milk until smooth.
    Cook over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly.
    BoiI 2 min. Remove from heat.
    Stir about 1/4 cup hot mixture into egg yolks.
    Gradually stir yolk mixture into hot mixture in saucepan.
    Cook just until mixture begins to bubble, stirring constantly.
    Remove from heat; stir in margarine and vanilla.
    Pour into cooled shelI.
    Refrigerate 3 hours or until set.
    OptionaI: top with whipped cream.
    Store in fridge.
