Muz's French Onion Soup

Recipe Introduction
This is the best French Onion soup recipe I have ever found. The recipe was retyped from one of those little index-card sized recipe cards (the kind with the little flower prints in the background). Enjoy.
List of Ingredients
2 lbs. onions, sliced into rings
3 T butter
3 T garlic powder
Bottle (fifth) of sauterne wine
5 cans beef bouillonRecipe
Saute onions in butter and garlic powder for about 30 minutes or until onions are tender. Add sauterne wine and simmer for 15 minutes. Add beef bouillon and simmer for another 30 minutes.
Pour over romano cheese and thick slice of bread, and top with mozarella or provolone and brown.
