Recipe Introduction
This one is tried and true -- wish I could go eat some right now!! Pretty with seasonal decoration/sprinkles on top for parties etc.
List of Ingredients
CAKE:
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup water
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda Recipe
In a large saucepan, bring butter and water to a boil. Remove from heat; stir in flour, sugar, eggs, sour cream, vanilla and almond extracts, salt and baking soda. Pour into a 15x10x1-inch (jelly roll) pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 22 minutes or until cake is golden brown or tests done. Cool for 20 minutes. Frost.
FROSTING FOR WHITE TEXAS SHEET CAKE:
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup milk
4 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Combine butter and milk in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat; add sugar and extract and mix well. Stir in walnuts; spread over warm cake. Yield 16 - 20 servings.
