Recipe Introduction
Just came across this in my old “TSR” archives. I made it today and it is EXCELLENT! This was posted by Joyce’S on July 7/2000 and previously posted by Wild Bill in 1999. An added bonus: my house smelled lemony delicious all day!!! I hope you will try this and enjoy!
List of Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sour cream
2 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 cups cake flour or soft wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon pure lemon extract Recipe
Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a bundt or large loaf pan. In a mixing bowl, beat together the butter, shortening, sour cream, and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, berating well after each addition. Sift together flour and baking powder.
In a separate bowl, combine milk, vanilla, and lemon extract.
Add 1/3 of the milk mixture and 1/3 of the flour mixture to the mixing bowl and incorporate. Continue adding this way until all ingredients are mixed in. Pour the batter into the prepare pan. Bake for 1 to 1 ½ hours or until toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean. If the cake starts to brown too much, cover with aluminum foil.
