    Recipe Introduction

This is an old family recipe that my mother used to make back in the 50s. I have made this many times for guest meals and one friend used to request it saying it was like a gourmet dinner out! Wow, what a compliment that was because I don't do gourmet!!! lol

    List of Ingredients

    1 lb ground beef
    1/2 C grated cheese
    Juice of 1 lemon
    1/2 green pepper, ground
3 T stuffed green olives, ground
    1 C bread crumbs
    1 egg
    1/2 C milk
    Bacon

    Recipe

Mix well. Shape into oblong loaves. Wrap with bacon. (I just use 1/2 a strip any more) Bake in moderate oven for 45 minutes to one hour. Serve with warm mushroom sauce. Makes 6 - 8 loaves. I used to use Ostrom's Mushroom steak sauce but can't find any longer so I use Campbells Golden Mushroom soup, undiluted. Also, I use a turkey baster to remove the grease. This is one recipe that haven't adapted to low fat. I usually serve with scalloped potatoes or my heavenly hash browns. Yes, it is different, but it is good.
