GG's Coq Au Vin (Chicken in Wine)

Our best man's wife made this for us the first time wee had dinner with them in 1970. She made so much at the time, we thought she could have fed the Viet Cong army. BUT, the two men ate a good bit of it and there really wasn't a lot leftover! This is a great dish for company with a loaf of French bread and a
salad, bottle of wine and your favorite dessert!
List of Ingredients
3/4 - 1 lb. sliced mushrooms
1/4 lb. diced bacon
6 small onions (diced)
6 whole chicken breasts
1 Tbsp. flour
1 to 1 1/2 cups dry red wine
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
salt and pepper Recipe
Fry chicken breasts until outsides are browned. Put lid on pan and cook
35 minutes until meat is falling waway from bone.
Take out chicken and in same pan, in butter, brown mushrooms, bacon,
onions and garlic. Remove from pan, leaving all
oils possible. Add flour and mix. Add wine, mix. Add mushrooms, bacon
and onions. Debone chicken and add to pan. Put
in oven at 350 for 1 hour. Serve over rice.
