if you want to make the regular liquid vanilla "extract"
-- go get a quart-sized (at least) bottle of the cheapest rot-gut vodka
you can
lay your hands on (sorry teatotalers, but it's in the vanilla
extract anyway and it is cooked out during the cooking process) and two
vanilla
beans!! Open vodka bottle -- slit the beans down the center
lengthwise with a sharp knife -- insert beans in bottle -- put away
somewhere
dark (cupboard with the door shut) for at least a month -- two
months is better!! This lasts a loooong time and doesn't cost as much as
just
three of those itty bitty bottles of vanilla extract!! Also, you
can save the dregs from the bottom of the bottle, add them and one more
vanilla
bean (cheaper than two) to another bottle of rotgut vodka -- and
you have even more vanilla!!!
