butter or butter flavored shortening for the pan

raisins and/or your favorite nuts - as desired (I use pecans)
Dough:
2 pkgs. of yeast
1 1/4 cups warm water
1/4 cups butter-softened
1 pkg. (4 serving size) Jell-o American Custard
1 teasp. salt
3 -3 1/2 cups flour
cinnamon - to taste
brown sugar - to taste
butter - spreadable
Raisins and/or nuts, as used for topping (optional) Recipe
To prepare the pan:
Grease a 9x13x2 inch pan well, with butter-flavored shortening or melt some butter in the pan and coat the botton and sides well. Sprinkle about the brown sugar on the entire bottom of the pan.. Sprinkle some cinnamon on top of the brown sugar, to taste. Add raisins and/or nuts. Remember - this will be the top! Zig-zag across the pan with the syrup or honey. Set aside.
To Make Dough:
This dough can be mixed with a mixer (if able to handle dough) or with a food processor or by hand.
In large mixer bowl place yeast, warm water (NOT HOT), softened butter, salt, and dry custard mix. Stir well, until disssolved. The butter can be place in the microwave to soften - stop it just before melting stage.
Add the flour, about 1/2 cup at a time. You may want to add a little bit more flour if the dough seems to soft to roll out, but you don't want it to be a stiff dough.
Knead the dough about 12 to 15 times to mix well.
Roll dough out on a floured surface, with a floured rolling pin into a rectangel about 12 to 13 x 17 to 19. Spread the dough with butter. Sprinkle with some brown sugar and cinnamon. You can add some raisins and/or nuts to the dough at this stage. Make sure everything comes out to the edges!
Roll up the dough in a jelly roll fashion. cut with a serrated knife into about 1" wide slices. Place slices inot the prepared pan - 3 across, 4 down, leaving room for the dough to rise. Place in a warm spot and let rise until doubled, or almost doubled in size about an hour or so.
Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees, and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until lightly golden brown. Do not let the buns cool, or sit in the pan! Turn them out onto a platter, waxed paper or foil about 3 mins after cooking.
Enjoy!
