Recipe Introduction
She posted this recipe when this board first started. It is from her Granny
Lewis and is 100 yrs. old. I tried it and have made it many, many times
since. It's moist and very delicious. Very easy to make.....just have to
make sure I keep bananas on hand to ripen. My family loves it!!!! I made my
son and daughter-in-law some, she took some to work and had to share the
recipe with them. Thanks again Char for the Fantastic banana bread
recipe!!!!!! There WILL be lots of it on my table on Thanksgiving...it is
also gonna make very nice gifts for people on my Christmas list. Here is the
recipe so you don't have to go searchin' for it!!!!
List of Ingredients
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup shortening (Char said she uses 1 stick of butter or
margarine,softened, so that's what I used)
1/2 cup nuts (optional)

1 tsp. baking soda
1 Tblsp. vinegar
1 Tblsp. milk or cream
NO SALT Recipe
Cream shortening, sugar and eggs together. Add mashed bananas. Stir in flour
and nuts. In a seperate bowl,(or cup) mix baking soda, vinegar and milk IN
THAT ORDER! Add to the banana mixture. Pour into a prepared bread pan and
bake 1 hour at 350 degrees or until a knife inserted in the center of the
bread comes out clean.
