    2/3 cup vegetable oil
    1 cup sugar
    1 egg
    1/4 cup molasses
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    2 teaspoons baking soda
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1 teaspoon ground ginger
    1/4 cup sugar

    Combine oil and 1 cup sugar in a large mixing bowl; add egg and beat well. Stir in molasses. Combine flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, and ginger; add to molasses mixture, nixing well. Roll dough into 1-inch; roll each ball in remaining 1/4 cup sugar.

    Place balls 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 10 to 14 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire rack to cool.
