    Baked Ziti

In the firehouse, you have to make plenty of food. For smaller "families", it can be reduced. But, better yet, make the recipe and freeze 1/2 for a quick meal at a later time. Just omit topping with the cheese until ready to bake!

This is a good recipe to play with. By all means, add more garlic, seasonings, sauce, and cheese to suit your tastes.

    List of Ingredients

    • 2 pounds ground chuck
    • 1 pound Italian sausage
    • 2 large jars spaghetti sauce
    • 1 1/2 box ziti pasta
    • 1 package ricotta cheese
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
    • 3 cups mozzarella cheese -- shredded
    • 1 cup parmesan cheese

    Instructions

    1. Brown beef and sausage, drain. Add spaghetti sauce and seasonings and simmer. Cook Ziti according to package directions and drain. Mix pasta, sauce, and ricotta cheese together until blended. Put 1/2 mixture into large baking pan, top with 1/2 of the mozzarella. Add remaining mixture, top with remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Bake in 350 degree oven uncovered for 1 hour.
