List of Ingredients
MOM’S BRISKET
4 lb. brisket (lean and trimmed), sprinkled with pepper and garlic powder.
1 envelope dry onion soup mix (I prefer Knorr’s - it’s less salty than Lipton’s)
1 (12 oz.) can beer
1/2 C catsup
1 (8 oz) can whole berry cranberry sauce
Place seasoned meat in Dutch oven or roasting pan. Sear on both sides until slightly browned, either on range top or in hot oven. Heat the rest of ingredients in saucepan until cranberry sauce is pretty well melted. Then pour over brisket, cover, and bake at 325 for 3 hours.
Remove from oven and allow to cool. Slice brisket after it’s completely cooled. Chill sauce so that all the fat can be removed, either for several hours or overnight. When ready to serve, place sliced meat in gravy and heat in 325 oven for about 30 minutes until heated through. Or
you can simmer this in a covered skillet on the rangetop. Gravy is delicious over noodles - needs no thickening. Serves 6-8.
