    Dip: Cheese and Bacon in a Bread Bowl

    Recipe Introduction

    Mary-Eileen RufkahrBridgeton, MO. Fry up 1 lb bacon until crisp, drain and crumble, reserve drippings

    1 round or oval loaf of sourdough or french bread

    Cut top and set aside for lid. Leaving a shell about 1/2" thick, remove bread and cut into cubes, put cubes on a cookie sheet. Brush inside of shell with reserved drippings. Place shell on a foil-covered cookie sheet. Bake both at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes, turning cubes occasionally.

    In a mixing bowl combine:
    8 oz softened cream cheese
    1 cup sour cream

    Add:

    1/2 cup chopped green pepper
    1/2 cup chopped green onion

    Add bacon crumbles. Scoop into bread shell, top with bread "lid". Keep warm in oven at 150 to 200 degrees until ready to serve in about 20 minutes.. Serve warmed shell with bread cubes to serve 10..
