    Sweet Bread: Butter Caramel Quicks

    1/3 cup butter or margarine
    2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    1 tablespoon water
    2 cups self-rising flour
    1/4 cup sugar
    2/3 cup milk
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/3 cup chopped pecans
    Preheat oven to 425°F.

    Recipe

    In a 9x9-inch baking pan, melt butter. Stir in 1/3 cup brown sugar and water; set aside.
    In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar. Add milk, stirring until mixture forms a dough. Turn out onto a well floured board; knead 5 times. Roll out into a 12x10-inch rectangle.
    In a small bowl, combine remaining brown sugar, cinnamon, and pecans. Sprinkle over dough. Starting with a long edge roll up, jelly-roll fashion. Cut into 1-inch-thick slices. Place, cut-side down, in prepared baking pan.
    Bake 18 to 22 minutes or until golden brown. Invert onto a serving plate. Serve hot.
