    Sweet Bread: Butter Tarts & Pastry

    Pastry:
    5 cups flour
    1 lb. lard (I use butter)
    dash of salt
    In a Measuring cup, Mix Together and Add to the above:
    2 tablespoons brown sugar
    1 egg
    Enough water to fill cup
    1 tablespoon vinegar
    Filling:
    2 cups brown sugar
    1 cup currents or raisins
    1/2 cup crushed walnuts
    nutmeg (about 1/8 teaspoon)
    cinnamon (I add 1 teaspoon, but add to your taste)
    2 eggs
    1/4 lb. butter
    1 tablespoon vinegar
    Directions:
    Roll dough. Cut out tart shells with cutter and place in muffin pan. Fill unbaked tart shells 2/3 full and bake until pastry is slightly brown in a 375°F oven.
