Betty Hearnes, former first lady of our first two term Missouri governor, is a great cook. Here are some of her recipes.

List of Ingredients

1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 cup creamed cottage cheese (heated to lukewarm)
2 T. sugar
1 T. minced onion
1 T. butter
2 tsp. dill seed
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 unbeaten egg
2 1/4 to 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour Soften yeast in water.



Recipe

Combine in mixing bowl the cottage cheese, sugar, onion, butter, dill seed, salt, baking soda, egg and softened yeast. Add flour to form a stiff dough. Cover and let rise until light and double in size (50 to 60 minutes). Stir down dough, then turn into well greased round 1 1/2 or 2 qt. casserole. Let rise again. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes.
